New (7/2021) GH5 variant with many new features! The GH5M2 features a new 20.3MP sensor with an anti-reflective coating to minimize light artifacts and a larger dynamic range (1/3 EV compared to the GH5). Featuring the new Venus Engine image processing system, it enables unlimited internal DCI 4Kp60/10-bit video recording from the entire sensor area, and also offers comparable autofocus performance to the Panasonic S5. The new Dual I.S. 2 five-axis image stabilization system allows up to 6.5 EV longer shutter speeds, and the pre-installed V-Log L mode with 12 EV dynamic range and LUT Assist is also a big attraction. The GH5M2 is also compatible with UHS-II V90 SD cards, as well as with the new USB-PD charger and the new DMW-BLK22 battery (2200 mAh).
Body only. On sale from 7/2021.The LUMIX GH series hybrid cameras are characterized by their outstanding performance for professional video shooting and the LUMIX GH5M2 brings a number of innovations in this area. Even in DCI 4Kp60 resolution, the entire sensor area of the GH5M2 is used, allowing the user to record video without cropping. To ensure high dynamic range and a wide color spectrum, the GH5M2 has a pre-installed V-Log L key, so there is no need to purchase one. There are also 35 LUT tables for VariCam film cameras available as a free download. Also included in the GH5M2's video toolkit are handy tools such as Waveform Monitor and V-Log View Assist.
Like the S1H, the flagship of the S Series, the LUMIX GH5M2 offers two types of Cinelike gamma presets in the Photo Style menu. These modes offer an impressive look with warm skin tones or subtle nuances of light and shadow. The Cinelike D2 preset favors dynamic range, while Cinelike V2 favors contrast. L.Monochrome S and L.Classic Neo presets have also been added. All of these presets are also available in anamorphic mode. When recording in VFR (Variable Frame Rate) mode, you can choose between C4K/4K 60 fps, Anamorphic 50 fps and FHD 180 fps.
The 20.3 megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor with very good image rendering minimizes ghosting and flare even in backlight thanks to the new AR layer. The LUMIX GH5M2's lightning-fast and highly accurate autofocus detects the eyes and face of subjects approximately 2x faster and continues to track them even when the subject is 50% smaller (compared to the GH5). It follows the subject even when they turn their back to the camera, tilt their head or move away.
High quality live streaming indoors and outdoors with minimal equipment! Just the LUMIX GH5M2 and a smartphone with the LUMIX Sync app and you can stream FHD/60fps video at 16 Mbps. For live streaming via cable, special LUMIX Webcam Software is available as a free download.
Every joint or button on the LUMIX GH5M2 is sealed for use in harsh outdoor conditions. The lifetime of the shutter mechanism is approximately 200,000 cycles. To further support outdoor use, the GH5M2 boasts a new 2200 mAh high-capacity battery that meets USB PD (Power Delivery) requirements and can be recharged via USB. The LUMIX GH5M2 features two SD memory card slots compatible with UHS-II high-speed, high-capacity cards with V90 classification for transfer, backup and recording allocation.
The LUMIX GH5M2 integrates Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. By connecting the camera to a smartphone/tablet using the Panasonic LUMIX Sync app for iOS/Android, users can shoot, view and share photos and videos remotely. Bluetooth 4.2 (BLE, Bluetooth Low Energy) compatibility keeps the camera connected to the smartphone with minimal power consumption.
Using the LUMIX Tether PC application, users can control the camera on a PC via the USB interface. The software allows the user and other viewers to view images on the computer screen while shooting, which is invaluable for commercial portrait or product photography, etc.
The LUMIX GH5M2 will continue to evolve, with firmware updates planned by the end of 2021 to include Live View Composite, USB Tethering (connecting to a smartphone via 4G/5G), and RTP/RTSP IP streaming capability when connected via cable.
