ILFORD XP2 Super är helt annorlunda jämfört med alla andra svartvita filmer. Den är uppbyggd på samma sätt som en färgfilm, men använder den tekniken för att göra ett svartvitt negativ. Metoden innebär en rad fördelar t.ex. genom att ändra exponeringen kan man förändra kontrasten och samtidigt få negativ med hög kvalitet mellan 100-800 ISO. Detta tack vare filmens breda exponeringsomfång. Filmen framkallas i vanlig C-41 process vilket gör den lämplig för alla minilabb.
