The Laowa Proteus Cine lenses feature a patented anamorphic design, favored by professionals for their smooth oval bokeh and unique flares. With a constant 2x squeeze factor, they achieve ultra-wide aspect ratios, standard in the cinema industry.
Images from a 43 sensor yield a 2.661 aspect ratio, while a 65 sensor results in 2.41, both allowing cropping to 2.391. The lenses support S35+ sensor formats, covering the Alexa 35 and Red V-Raptor 7K sensors.
With a large T2 aperture, these lenses excel in low-light conditions, providing sharp images and effective background separation. Optimal image quality is reached at T4, and the close focus distance is just 48 cm, enhancing the characteristic thin and long bokeh of anamorphic lenses.
