With the new Nanomorph zoom series, Laowa has developed two anamorphic lenses for S35 cameras with the impressive zoom ranges of 28-55 mm and 50-100 mm. The very versatile optics can be used in a wide variety of shooting situations and make frequent lens changes unnecessary. Filmmakers can use it to implement numerous cinematic zoom effects such as crash zoom, dolly zoom, and slow zoom. Thanks to its unique anamorphic design, the Nanomorph Zoom series guarantees a constant 1.5x reduction ratio regardless of the focusing distance.

Design and Performance

Both lenses shine with an open aperture T2.9 over the entire zoom range. This ensures excellent light output and optimal exposure even under difficult lighting conditions. Its low focusing distance of 45 cm (for the 28-55 mm zoom) or 80 cm (for the 50-100 mm zoom) enables extreme, yet absolutely sharp close-ups. The Nanomorph Zooms deliver anamorphic cine images with remarkable clarity, detail, and depth of field. Its oval bokeh effect and organic focus roll-off create a cinematic look that filmmakers want.

The lenses, which weigh a good 1500 g, have a diameter of around 80 mm and a length of around 186 mm. This makes them the lightest and most compact anamorphic zoom lenses on the market. Their focal length range of 28-100mm makes them perfect for a variety of shooting scenarios, including car rigs, steadicams, and shoulder rigs. Their compact design makes them easy to transport in a hard case.

Color Options

Both Nanomorph zooms come with an Arri PL mount. Optionally there are interchangeable bayonets for Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z, and Fuji X as well as L Mount. The lenses are available with lensflare in amber, blue, and silver. The blue diffuser is ideal for a sci-fi or vintage look, while the amber and silver options offer warmer and neutral tones respectively. With the silver flare option, the color of the scattered light can be adjusted to match the color of the light source. Both nanomorph zooms can be combined with a 1.33X front anamorphic adapter.
